I am writing this on Day 2 of being here so we have not left on the road trip yet, HOWEVER!!! I am so happy to be here, Hol is currently working (nerd) and I am sat in Louis Baxters Cafe watching South Africa vs South Korea world cup game (two of the baristas are south korean) (or maybe just asian idk i assumed)
Before pausing my PhD (because frankly I was incapable of working on it) (pause started in April 2026), I had already realised that academia (that is: research!) was not what I wanted to do with my life. Mum had planted the send of entrepreneurship in my head the summer before (sat on the terrace in Britany), and so I thought... why not!
She was leaving for like 4-5 months, did you really think I was going to let her escape? Two weeks road tripping around Northern Chile. Along the coast, the Atacama Desert, and the beautiful Chilean mountain ranges. 3232 kilometres covered, a gazillion tubos eaten and numerous hours listening to Olivia Dean. I am writing this just before going to visit her in Perth for the first time so Chile was like 8 months ago now, but I can safely say it was my favourite trip I have ever been on!
